In the journey toward more sustainable vending, water management and filtration systems are playing an increasingly central role. Among the solutions, there are new filter cartridges designed for regeneration, surpassing the traditional “use and replace” model.
In this edition of Venditalia Voices, we speak with Sergio Barbarisi, CEO of Hydra Technology & Innovation, who introduces a technology that impacts both operational efficiency and the component lifecycle.

What is the key innovation you are bringing to the trade show, and what tangible changes does it bring to vending?
At Venditalia, we are showcasing for the first time a water filtration system specifically designed for vending, which goes beyond the “disposable” logic of current filter cartridges. Our cartridges are designed to be regenerated through an automated machine that manages the entire cycle quickly, with digital traceability for each unit. This translates into higher quality control, operational continuity, and a new approach to vending maintenance.
On the sustainability front, what is the main impact you aim to reduce, and what approach do you take?
We focus on the product lifecycle, structurally reducing waste volume and transportation associated with periodic cartridge replacement. Regeneration eliminates shipping and end-of-life disposal, delivering clear environmental benefits. This represents tangible sustainability, which also creates a more economically efficient model for operators and fosters a customer-facing approach that ultimately enhances the vending sector’s image.
Why is Venditalia 2026 the ideal context to introduce this innovation to the international vending market?
Venditalia is the natural meeting point for technological innovation and industry operators. Presenting our system here allows us to engage directly with operators and resellers, those who face daily challenges around costs, maintenance, and sustainability. It is the ideal environment to demonstrate in practice how this model can truly reshape the vending balance.
Venditalia 2026 will take place from May 6 to 8 at Rimini Expo Centre, serving as the reference event for the vending and automatic distribution industry and an unmissable opportunity to discover the latest market trends and innovations.
